Hi All
Short term lurker first tine poster.
Normally a fly tyer but thought another detail and time oriented hobby wouldn’t go astray
Looking to get started in lure making and have found many templates to use for small lures.
I’ve tried searching but can’t find any references to any lures specifically for Murray cod.
Mainly looking for a surface paddler style.
Not asking for anyone’s specific templates but is there anywhere I can find guidelines to dimensions etc.
hopefully have some trout lures to post up in the next few weeks.
Thanks All

I don't think there is any templates available. Just check out other cod surface paddlers and you will see quite a variety of shapes. Pick one of these shapes and use it as a rough guide to make something of your own. Experiment with the shape and sizes of the body and the paddler bib until you get the action you want.

Les Barlow many years ago experimented with one lure each of- surface paddler, crawler and popper. He only tried once and the popper was the only thing that worked. He gave that popper to a neighbour who caught over 30 cod on it before he lost it.

So don't limit your thinking to one type of surface lure only as others work as well.

Here’s a design I’ve now used for a couple of years, influence from a doof doc and one or two others.
Just need to trial and era and it will come.
