Gidday guys,
I guess there will be a degree of varying opinions on this one. With my first attempt lures,I used those 3d holographic things, that are raised, and I used the 5mm size. I used a drillbit to try to get the eye flush with the body of the lure, and glued them in,as the self adhesive isn't real flash. Then,to ensure they stay there I sprayed two clears over them. Anyone tried the flat stick ons? I know the old drillbit dipped into paint trick. Any other methods being used out there? Cheers.Marty. |

theres a few ways Marty,i usually just punch a black dot and a larger white ,yellow or red dot out of contact (the stuff they line kitchen draws with),you can buy it from bunnings or kmart.another method is to make temporary stencils from the same contact ,the beauty of contact is it sticks down so less chance of overspray that you'd get from a normal stencil.aside from this the flat holographic ones you can buy are fine too

marty i use cotton buds as they give a nice uniform dot, a lot of blokes use drill bits but ive never done real well with them.like anything just need to practice, just remembet to thin your paint for eyes, and keep a small bottle of thinner handy as your paint will thicken in a short time, hope this helps, regards chris

I have all sorts of trouble with eyes, went back to using a nail painting stencil, and a hole punch through plastic for my eyes, which I spray with low pressure airbrush, theyre not particularly good though.....

Marty try your local Sign Shop. They can cut out perfect circle eyes from self adhesive vinyl.
If they agree then best to have your list ready. For example : 100 black at 6mm dia. 100 white at 8mm So on & so on Don't just ask for 8 or 10 you will drive them crazy, also ask them to save the file as you will very likely be back. Gordon |
