It's very simple and may have been done before, for all I know But here it is...
....Electrical Heat Shrink...... "everyone Go's Ahh" The only thing I can recommend is a good quality hobby knife with a reinforced point(as in pic1). I bought mine at Bunnings $5.00. Use the clear heat shrink for 2 reasons. You can draw on your lure then trace it with the hobby knife No.2 the clear tube is made from a polyethylene based plastic so washing off or using solvent based paint is no problem I find leaving them in water for a few hours,, even solvent based acyrilic,s just fall off. Jaycar sell 25mm heat shrink for $5.90/M You do need to heat it very hot so it dose not hold any residual stress when you cut it out changing its shape. In pic1 the very top lure was dipped in hot plastisol 3 times the same material they use in soft rubbers and cut hole with a wad punch it's a little soft to fit into position but seals well The below pictures should be better than my ramblings. |

Nail stencils are not to bad on 40mm lures with a little curve in both direction but when the curve gets like a chubby the stencil dose not have enough give to stay on the surface
The plastisol works realy well, is very easy to cut you can have what ever thickness you like. Just dip it into the molten PPVC 2,3,4 times to get it thicker. And can be recycled. It dose lose a little flex the more you reheat it |
