Is it worth annealing that stuff if its too stiff and brittle? I often just run a flame from gas torch over what I'm working with to soften it a bit, works well enough with stainless wire I've used, and with fish hooks too when you want to open up the eyes of chem sharpened hooks

I bought some 1.2mm TIG wire from Allweld, at Beresfield, a few weeks ago. Bends and twists perfectly.

Jeez, when I first started I was buying mason soft wire, its great, but too expensive, so tried some welding wire, and it was really brittle, and broke when I twisted it, different sort of stainless welding wire?
I ve been useing safty tie wire that I buy at the local airport shop, which is as cheap as chips and twists really easily, might have to try welding wire again though. |
