Hey guys
I'm heading back to the Amazon in October with my favourite pommy Amazon guide, Steve Townson.
I'll be fishing 2 camps again.
First stint (5-12) is a split camp, staying in a float camp on lowland lagoons chasing peacocks. After 3 days we head to a jungle camp and hit up some faster water species in a multi-species setup.  This is the first week of this camps operations in an area that hasn't had any sportfishing pressure in a long time, so the fishing should be hot.
Second stint (14-21) is a full on peacock adventure. Accomodation this stint is an Amazon houseboat/barge. This is the first ever fishing camp operating in the section of river. We'll be literally the first sportfishing group to fish this region (legally, since indigenous landowners rights were acknowledged by operators, never know who might have snuck through in those parts).  The only known sportfishing that has occured in the area is 2 guys for 2 days on the scouting mission late last year, and the results were mind-blowing.  Big numbers, big fish, all on topwater.
If you are serious about wanting to join I can send more info, and maybe get a referral discount to share between us. (It wont be much - but better than a kick in the face.)
There are a couple of spots left in each week.  And so far, apart from the camp staff and Steve, it's an all Aussie adventure with the same core group of guys over the 2 weeks.

Thanks for the interest guys.
I think it would be great to fill up the extra spots with other Aussies.

I also appreciate the offers from guys who want to send me gear to test.
I will put here what I have put in a few PMs.  You're still welcome to PM me if you really think you have a peacock slaying design waiting to bust out...  But...
The weight restrictions on the float planes going in and out of the camps are an incredibly strict 15kg/pp total. (ie. not 15kg + carry on, just 15kg)
After last time I have a pretty good idea of what lures WILL catch fish, and what lures MIGHT catch fish.  I wont say any lures WONT catch fish, because ultimately they all could.
I have a box full already of lures that people provided me last time that I think are genuine fish takers, if I get the right conditions this time.  They are second in line to make this trip. (Sorry to say but FIRST in line this time are the "gauranteed" overseas built fish takers like Stevie Stinger jigs, klures rippers, super spooks, and crystal minnows.) THIRD there is a range of stuff I came across that I have dropped cash on, thinking it looks interesting and would kill over there.
Because you send me something for nothing, doesn't mean I will guarantee to (1) carry it in to the jungle or (2) actually use it.
If you do send me something and I get too much to carry there are a couple of possibilities I can think of:
1 - Handing a few around to other blokes to try.  This depends on whether they want them, and don't already have their carry limit.  I obviously can't force them.  I don't know the other guys coming along, but they are Aussie - so maybe they want to try some Aussie timbers, but maybe not.
2 - Rotate them so some come to camp 1, some to camp 2.
3 - Gift a few to Steve (and possibly some other guys over there I have connections to) and hope they use them and eventually send me through some photos to share back with you guys.  But these guys really don't vary it up much - very much a "set menu" for peacocks.
Sorry if that sounds blunt/harsh - but that's my reality.

Saying all that I'm sure if a couple of guys from here sign up, they will make it very easy for me to spread around the aussie timbers love!

Im sure all will understand ducks....you can only do your best mate....I haven't seen you advertising for free lures, sounds like they are being offered, Im sure you will try hard to cover those that send a suitable lure.
The giving them away over there to share amongst other anglers sounds fair....look forward to seeing how your trip goes.
and yes IM JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely Jase - it's all been generous people offering.
I guess really what I am saying is that I just cannot promise anything.  And I don't want to let people have expectations that I then don't meet.  So I figured I would put up the details here to save people PMing without that.
Being my second trip now, I now have a much firmer idea of what I can/should bring along.
If you think about what most people might pack for a short road trip and a few days barra/cod fishing, and then think about a 15kg limit, it really is very tight.

Sounds fair to me Ducks. But then again I am not a lure maker. Taking lures to test up the cape in the freshwater means packing as many lures in the back pack as possible rotating them each day. I know that whatever lure of appropriate size I take in the fresh will catch fish - some in certain conditions, but most in nearly all conditions.
My brother in law is a gold Bomber freak only so his tackle box is big enough to hold 5 lures and with his drink and food only weighs about 3 kgs compared to my near 10 kgs - now got a bigger back pack - wonder if my back and legs will hold outErmm. (But last year I outfished him barra wise.)

So...  9 days til take off...

The dollar dived before I managed to pay the majority of the cost.  Always a risk when dealing with foreign payments...  But that hurt.

There's been some problems with the itineraries.  Locations shifting to allow for better access and better (hopefully) fishing.  Means that unfortunately I wont be fishing the particular river/tributary that I was especially excited about. But it's better than the alternatives (ie. canceling the trip, or fishing in high water and bad conditions) Dates then had to shift to accommodate transfer timetables for the new locations...  So my flights had to change, and that cost more money (which hopefully becomes an insurance issue rather than my problem.

But...  9 days and none of that will matter!

From LL I have:
A few Spoons from PJ
A couple of Spinnerbaits from BJ
Surface stuff from JOKER, Darby, Poolie, Twitchy, BOB, Nutterjuck and Nicho.
Subsurface from AKLures, Fletch, Darby, JOKER, Twitchy, Lees, Twin River, Esoteric, Running Creek, Next Bend, Fugly, Mark A, Mencho, ...

Aussie stuff not from LL includes Halco, RMG, Cutting Edge, Bills Bugs, Happy Rock Softies, Lipsmackin Spinnerbaits, and there is probably a Killalure in there somewhere...

No doubt I forgot a couple - apologies - but nothing will be missed in the "USING MEMBERS LURES" post after the trip...

Then there is the international stuff EmbarrassedEmbarrassedEmbarrassed  I think my packing weight might be stretched...

From here I have to break things down to bring to the different camps, and possibly trade some around and spread the Aussie timber love. Some are already earmarked as possible trades and a couple as gifts. Will investigate conditions and make final decisions based on up to the minute info in Brazil (ie. Maybe carry less surface and more subsurface. Or vice versa based on conditions the day before)

Since I know you are all fiends for lure porn I thought I might share some pics of the stuff in boxes that might need just a little bit more sorting...
