Picked up a limb under a Camphor Laural tree assuming it was that. Its not. Apart from the different grain it has no real smell. Softish timber, light, floats well.
Pics show the outside with some bark and the grain wet and dry.

Shane, yes 1/2 wet and dry to show the grain. No banksia seen there. I think it is too soft for Banksia as I think that is a hard timber from memory?

Looks like Fysshe and Brad have it. Pity I can't remember where I picked it up as I would like some more.

Alistair, I picked up a good lump at the Timber woodworking show up here last year. It was about a metre long, 400mm odd wide and 50mm thick, and a bargain for $20.
A local SEQ company that have a whole range of timbers they mill themselves. I'll have a look for their card, they might have some in the shed.

Thanks Brad but I prefer to find smaller limbs myself and cut them up. Adds to the enjoyment of it and I think the grain is nicer on these using the centre sections.
