Hi, has any one used a Samaki C 12 Gen 2 rod. I have been looking at one lately ( 6 ft 10 to 17 lb baitcaster ). I have the usual suspects when it comes to lure throwing up here in Nort Queensland eg St Croix, Loomis, Samurai but always loking for something different.

Col, I don't know about the C12 but I recently got the Zing Xtreme in the 6ft, 10-17lb baitcaster and I like it so far. It has a soft tip which I like for casting but still has plenty of grunt down low.

Thanks for the offer Lionel, i will give you call if I am still having trouble deciding.
Ringo I was looking at the Zing Extreme as well in the size you have. The 2 rods were beside each other and the C 12 just seemed a touch lighter in the tip ( not much thought ) with cork grips but $ 100.00 dearer. I was pretty impressd with the way the Zing Extreme felt as well. Thank you both for the feedback. Decisions, decisions Col |

Nice Lionel. I was playing with the Quantum Exo reel as well. They seem like a sweet reel too. Great outfit

My little mate Dudley got one from Nugget in Ingham...caught 45 sooties and some nice barras up the herbert. Runs a calcutta 50 on it....i think he loves the camo grip more than the rod. Reckons it goes ok.

COL I do not have the rod mentioned but have two Samaki Zings
Rod one is a pistol grip szg-541 bxl 5foot 4 2.6 lbs which I have been using in the canoe for Murray cod and yellow belly very happy with rod gets a really good work out. Second rod is a bait caster sz6-5101bl 5f 10 4.10lbs have caught a few cod close to the meter mark on this rod probably made to target bass. Have found these rods to be of good quality for price Cheers Graeme |

I have had a Samaki baitcaster in the heavier range(cant remember code) which I compared favourably with a Daiwa Black Label 6-12kg and Loomis GL2 665 I used on the same trip. I dont have it anymore coz my son said he liked it more than me However I reckon that it handled 1m02 OK. The first cast I had in a tackle shop over the counters impressed me, for what its worth.

I also had a quantum B/C reel an Energy E100SPTS which performed faultlessly. I still have that as I think it was brilliant Billj

Col, my other rods all have cork grips so I thought I'd try the EVA grips for a change. The Fuji reel seats on the C-12 look the same as the Xtreme so I assume the extra $100 in price is for a better blank(although they both have X-Power weave premium toray carbon fibre blanks - whatever that means?) and better Fuji guides. |

Thanks for the feedback everyone, i appreciate it.
My other oufits are cork but I am more that happy to give the eva grips a go. So i have changed ( at this stage ) from the C 12 to the Zing Extreme and put the $100 saving towards lures or a new reel, unless I get convinced that the dearer one is a lot better. Once again thanks Cheers Col |
