Following the Barambah Dragons, I had a couple of requests for Blue Tongue Lizards. They took me a long while to get around to, but they finally got shaped, sanded and massaged into shape. I decided to carve/dremmel the head scales and they really came to life.

The paint was probably two days work to paint just four lures. Lots of mistakes, lessons, trial and error, fix ups - but overall they came out ok in the end. All individual and slightly different colours.

I hope you like them!

Matt

The more I look at these the more they blow me away....these could be the best ever rendition of a blue tongue ever made...I bred these lizards for years & had to take a close look that you did not use real liztards to make them...OUTSTANDING Matt....best paint job I have ever seen....

Thanks for all the great comments! Its great to be able to share pics here amongst people who appreciate the time and skill that goes into each one. I am quietly stoked with them, at the same time I can see minor flaws, and I am confident I can improve next time.

I am not taking orders on these just yet. Still months behind on 'orders'. I will take 'espressions of interest' if you think they are worth $300 and a 4 - 6 month wait. pm's ta

Cheers,

Matt

Can someone please cast one of these into the lizard pit at the Australian Reptile Park. I'm sure all the other blueys will be trying to become rather friendly with the new comer... Oh, take the hooks off first of course.
Matt yr a lizard lure legend or LLL for short. Well done again.
Cheers. Adam.

Close, I took this pic when Matts Waterdragon came home. The Bluetongue was intrigued.

How's this for crazy, I went down to the shed this morning and there was a blue tongue inside my locked office door, sunning itself inside the glass. I have had them in the backyard before, but I haven't seen one for a few years. Then today one was in the shed!!!

I will let him go again, I believe a licence is required and you can't take them from the wild. But I would like to quickly use him as a life model before release. Certainly a lot of details need to be modified in my Barambah Blue Tongues to be more life like.

Crazy coincidence though!

Cheers,

Matt

Blue Tongue Update June 2017,

I took a heap of orders in November 2016 for the Blue Tongues, and finally got around to making more from March 2017 (after I finished the batch of 2017 Crays). Thanks to having a life model Blue Tongue to work from, the new Blue Tongues were quite different in shape, particularly the head, with a longer, more pointy nose. And a few other subtle changes to the body. Most importantly the paint jobs changed to reflect scale size and patterns more realistic than the originals.

The first batch of nine took a very long time to create, and painting alone took 4 days. Mixing colours and making templates was very time consuming. They came out ok, but I wasn't 100 percent happy with them, So did some more work on templates and found a hexagonal scale pattern, rather than diamond scale pattern, and this turned out much more realistic.

I am doing them in either 1.6mm ally bib (for the fishos) and 2mm polycarb bib for the collectors. All are numbered, signed and dated on leather card with Badge. A couple have been fished for good results!

I have now made a few more batches and have just finished no. 53 Blue Tongue. I have a further 19 or 20 in the works, with some to fill orders, but I hope to have a dozen available at the 2017 Expo for sale.
Not taking orders between now and the Expo sorry.

Price is $300 a piece

Cheers,

Matt
