As one who doesn't get caught up in the latest fad getting around, I'd pick a gold bomber with beefed up trebles any day. And when the sun goes down it would be switched for one of Poolies fizzers .

These are my favourite barra lures. Both are Leads. The older minnow took a 40lb barra in the Lawley River (nw Kimberleys) my best river fish to date and the newer, an original "Tropical Rogue", took a 123cm, 60lbs plus fish in Tinaroo when fishing with Jack Leighton. I haven't used either since but did purchase replicas which are still in the tackle box ready to go. Ken.

Caught my first barra on a Les Barlow Troopie and have caught many more on his lures. But I have caught heaps of barra on many lures, including those $5 Smiling Jacks.
My favourites are many members lures and to name one over the other is a very hard task. However if one of them brought his lures out in a very flashy gold similar to a gold bomber, then I reckon that would be my favourite .

Some of the best barra lures are the handmade timber ones like Lethal Lures,Richo's Extracta (If your lucky enough to own a few!) Jonesys Rhino and many other locally crafted timber lures! Very hard to beat when the going gets tough!

Hi Jamyeppoon, I haven't fished with leathal lures, I've got three still the box. The guy in Barra Jacks (rocky) got offended when I said they looked a bit like Killa's (that was a compliment). How Do the new ones go, obviously styled on Richo's but I haven't parted any hard earned on them?

Hi Guys, As a Cairns resident I,ve caught my share of Barra and agree with Horrorhead you just cant name one lure over another, it depends on what Barra are feeding on at the time. My tackle box is packed with heaps of the above "named" lures as well as my own Local Lures and I use most of them on a trip to the Cape. Enclosed photos show even my own lures catch fish. My mate trolled my Mangrove Munchie for 3 Barra in a arvo. He released the two biggest before keeping the one in the photo.Ron
