G'day Baz, yes I like these lures. But please dont fish them, send them my way instead and I will replace them with some nice new Tapsco Deception deep divers Obviously very similar to Deception shrimps. I do believe though that the correct name for them is Whitmore Cray although everyone calls them shrimps. I will try and confirm that. I have a couple more of the Lil'Dynamites headed my way but missed out of the Whitmore with the rattle. Also would have loved to get the barra Whitmores that were on offer recently but timing saw me away from home when they ended. Serves me right trying to leave it till the end of auction to bid I guess
Re the hole in front of the tow point, if you did not know already, Ray used to use that as the center hole to cut out the bibs on the router and did I think up to 10 sheets stacked at a time. The Deceptions were cut the same way but Paul drilled the hole further back which is hidden when inserted into the lure.
Here are my ones. I have added and extra pic of one of them that was I suspect a painting mistake but not sure how that would happen unless the paint fumes got too much
This is the one lure veiwed both sides. Pretty cool I think

Found out a bit more info. These are indeed called Whitmore Crays. (I will change the topic name if thats alright Baz)
A bit of history as I remember Paul Kneller telling me. Paul was making the Yabby lures (cod sized more so) and was requested to make a smaller version for Yellas. Ray Whitmore, who was a fishing mate of Pauls did not make lures to sell but did carve his own and was there when Paul was asked this. Because Paul made his lures with a Jig (I assume that makes sence) it took a few days to make but Ray carved a smaller one up that night. After a bit of testing (it was too big in the butt at first) they came up with the first of the smaller type. It was decided to call these first ones "Deception Whitmore Shrimps" which in the end changed to Deception Shrimp. Ray Whitmore started to make and sell his own lures about 5yrs after this time and called them Whitmore Crays or Deep Crays.
One day I will sit down with Paul and get the full story on each of his lures.

Here are a few more I picked up this week. 2 more Lil'Dynamites and a Cray. I think I might concentrate on the Crays to collect for a while I think. Persoanlly I think they are a nicer looking lure than the Deceptions Shrimps(sorry Paul) and the big plus is that there are alot less variations in these as well. Still have not got my hands on one with rattles or a shallow bibbed version.
