It is a Cudgeefish Termenador. Picked up new at Mudgee by Paul Kneller around 95/96 (which he threw the backing card away) |

Alistair, no offence intended to Cudgeefish, but the finish and general quality, looks to be far superior to the lures Gary has shown?
Are his very early and yours a later model? Looks very Deceptionish. Seaweed.

Don't have any other info on this one. I picked this up off Paul in 2010 who got it at Mudgee 14/15yrs earlier. It was in packet then (under the cudgeefish brand) with the model name "Termenador" .
Doccod has also confirmed that this was a model Kel made at and before the 1995ish time period. As said, it is different to the other Cudgeefish and whilst a similar side profile to a deception it is a much chunkier lure than a Cherax which I will take a pic of beside shortly to compare.

Arrrggghhh Now lets set the record straight once and for all Alistair.....Yes Kel did make that lure in 1995/96 only after he had recieved a lure that Paul had made in a shrimp shape much earlier in the day, that was not rounded, but had edges, not unlike Kelvins Cudgee shrimp range of lures. If you don't use a lure at all and keep it in a box then the paint won't be hurt Tony(seaweed). I think you'll find that the lures shown by Gary Wade come from my tackle box and the large blue one was swam at the Barra Classic 2002 whereby it was eaten by a small whaler shark before the fish let go. Thats why the paint flaked off underneath it and you'll find a puncture mark along its side. The black with pink rings was also swam at barra classic whereby junior barras to 64cms happily ate it repeatively. The bent bibbed model was used for cod and I nick named it the "black snake" for the shallow wake during its wriggling retrieve....The red fatbob in model 2 never was swam. These lures were swapped to a fellow member from this site from the newcastle area and I'm very happy to see wadey with them.... For the record wadey I have more for sale including 2 prototypes that were especially crafted for the barra classic but did not arrive in Darwin on time to be used by me. The very bottom one in your group photo was a one off and was carved for bass at glenbawn but unfortunely never produced the goods. The packeted Cranky Franky lure in your photo is I suspect unused but they caught a lot of greenfish cod for me...If you get in touch with me wadey my phone number is on the bottom of my spinnerbait card I can fill you in on the rests history. The lures were crafted from Jelutong and were far ahead of there day meaning that if Rod Harro or some other elite writer had wrote about them then you'd all be hunting for them.... Instead the only magazine coverage they got was by me in South Australia only whereby there are published shots of them having been eaten by respectable sized creek cod..... I do know for a fact that the bent bib models performance was utilised by Halco in there "just under" range as I gave Dave Hodge a bent bibbed fatbob lure in model 2 design. I hope this clears a few query's up....regards B.J.

Which was the lure made for Bass in Glenbawn? How many lures did Kel make from Jelutong? Laurie.

Mate history as I know it is as follows. I met Kelvin and family in 2000 whereby I started fishing his lures under a sponsorship agreement. It was around this time he started to use Jelutong as the earlier lures was carved from cedar and beech. He started baking the paint on them in 2001 in a low oven temperature whereby the car enamel paints he was using (FORD) could slowly cure. This process while time consuming produced a better finish. The gold lure long in shape with the skinny bib was what I was told was the Glenbawn prototype. I trolled it and casted it until my arms nearly fell off for no return....... The little orange one slayed the bass in the nepean and hawkesbury rivers and if memory serves me correctly you guys at Mo tackle fell in love with some of his designs on bass.......I hope this info is helpful....regards B.J.

Ok Gary thankyou for calling my yesterday. The large blue shrimp was called size one Cudgeefish shrimp and they caught freshwater cod and whaler sharks
the next size shrimps were size 2 and they quite successfully caught Golden perch, freshwater cod and Barramundi, jew.
the smaller shrimp was size three and redfin, cod yellas and bass just loved them.
Then you got 2x fatbobs in series 2 which were made /carved in a fatter profile than the original size ones which I thought were the better of the 2 designed models. The fatbobs caught a hell of a lot of cod and in fact my series 1 fat bobs were made of red cedar while the series 2 were made from Jelutong.
The little orange one was called a tadpole and went great guns on yellowbelly and bass. cannot remember the prototype skinny shrimp lure for Glenbawns name except to say it has a very tight action.
The bent bib model was a shallow size 1 Cudgeefish shrimp.
There was quite a few differing models that were completed with the bent bib with the smaller models terriffic on bass.
Of course your packeted one was called a cranky franky after a uncle of Kels who had a rather cranky out look on life.
There is also a small lure called a grumble bum named after his daughters nick name and it was a great bass lure winning many comps on the nepean river etc.
Most of Kelvins lures were named after family members.
You might be lucky to find some of his lures that were lost into trees in the Cudgegong River at Rylstone.
The cranky franky design was slimmed down and sold to Alex Hickson from Viking lures and there fish catching ability goes without saying.
Kelvin had lots more designs available and after he pulled his range from Mo tackle over issues he had with that company they were produced in smaller numbers and sold to shops in nearby locations.
The termendor that Alistair has got I believe is a very rare unit indeed as from what i've been told never was produced in great quantities.
Me and Kelvin had a fall out not long after the 2002 barra classic because of other peoples interference with our work together but when he died his wife and daughter rang me virtually straight away to inform me of his passing.....Heart Attack! Anyway you look at it he's designs were quite ground breaking and like any lure out there fish it enough and the results will come...regards B.J.

That lure was given to me by Ray Broughton, he had picked it up in a shop in Mudgee, Work N Country. They were notoriously slow payers and I had refused to deal with them some months earlier, so low and behold a Cudgee Fish version turns up . And you are right Alistair, the lure card had printed on it "Cudgeefish Termanador"

G'day Tom, No CF on the bottom of this lure and I would not have ID it as a Cudgeefish but as I can confirm it was bought new in a Cudgeefish packet I guess there is little doubt on it's origin.
Gary, Your getting a nice collection of these.

I've got nearly a dozen of these lures left too if your interested Wadey. Good pickup on my old trout coloured "Grumble Bum" model as well......Wouldn't be to many left in that part of the lower hunter would there be?.......Regards B.J.
