One of my first fully finished lures in many years.
Really happy with the Tenterfield style tow wire. Many thanks to Powelly for his "how to" post on the process.
Some more on the way.

There should be a few for sale when I get some of my painting bugs worked out and also get a bit organised.

Id say just by looking pearcey they would have a very good action for most freshwater species.

I'd better go buy more wood.
Action is pretty much standard wide sway, a little bit tighter on the scorp style bodies.

Hopefully the weather will let me go out and do a bit of testing.

Got a few more blanks out and finished today before the rain came.
Might be a delay for a few days though, stupid work.

Yep old blue Shakespeare on a Butterworth Montego Bay spin stick, top of the line circa. 1975. Regularly used to chase yellowbelly still. Of course spooled with Tortue Supercontrol (wish I could get the old hardshell stuff still).

Actually got out and gave some of the new ones a swim at a local dam today, actions were all pretty good, the fish were noticeable absent though.
Enough time left in the arvo to make some small Kads.

Wow, Ian, what good eyes you have to pick the
old blue 2400 series Shakespeare reel hiding under the  bench.

I still have one of these and felt they were the first eggbeater reels in the late 70's or early 80's  with a drag to handle golden trevally  and queenfish.

I had trouble finding the reel even after your post.

Well done and thanks for the memories.

Barry

Actually I have two blue reels and a slightly earlier green version.
I'll put some pics up in the vintage tackle bit one day.

I feel a bit bad naming a Dart or Kad anything else. Though I'm pretty sure I can think up something for the boomerang looking ones. " Werris Creek Wobbler"?, might get confused with all the two legged ones here as well though.

Gave them a test swim today, everything worked pretty much as expected.

The dart lookalike I was very happy with, good action, dived well. The boomerang looking ones( werris creek wobblers) have a hard wriggle action, dived well too. The Kad lookalikes all dived well, wriggling action rather than a sway. Scorps swam pretty much as expected, good wriggle. The Kad/Scorp crossbreed swims quite nicely, should be a good trolling lure, have to make some more.

Learned a few lessons from the tests.
The dart lookalike, with a deeper diving bib was great, really happy with it. The boomerang styled lures had a nice action too, really pleased, almost flatfish action, just a bit tighter.
The Kads dived well, the action was a little less than expected, put down to dense wood, too heavy hooks and rings. Still ok.
I might make any future scorp type lures, two piece, wire through.
The scorp/Kad hybrid (Scorpadicha) works well, make more.
