Gday Andrew, sorry I must have missed your post! Good question, hopefully Allan will see this now I'm bumping the post up and let us know Here's a very cool Custom Barra Blaster Allan made up - the custom one with the scallops out of the back also has metallic fleck in it that looks great |

Hi Guy,s ,The tiny -boy and the barrablaster lures were all made in timber first. In the early to mid 90,s these two models were put into plastic and made by lively lures .Only the standard sizes .
The baby barrablasters in plastic ,were made by myself , My friend Steve made the molds and i injected the bodies . I never sold any of these to the shops and only a handfull remain . I did make them in timber as well but there would have been a dozen made . Jars lures will be making the baby barrablaster in both styles as well as the baby tinyboy later on in the year. Thanks Allan , P,s The best way to pick my lures from Jar,s are i used to put big eye,s on while they use little eye,s . |

Gday Dave, I agree it makes our lives a lot easier when the name is embossed (or written on) Normally Al Dolan does have the name embossed, although I believe that there are exceptions (I've got a few of those pictured here) |

Here's a slightly better photo of the 2 little moulded lures (55mm body exc. bib) Awesome paintwork, especially when you consider how small they are
The "McSea" style scallop in the first one is easier to see here |

Gday Dave, I had a chat with Allan about the moulded lures, as I recall these ones I've shown above were the earliest moulded lures that were moulded by Alan Dolan and hand painted by Allan Sloman prior to the sale to Jar lures (I thought I'd better use surnames or that could get really confusing) Although as you said I'm sure Allan will help clarify when he reads the post, as it wouldn't be the first time faulty memory has caused me to make a mistake |

Gday Craig, No it's vertical - I can see why you might think that, as in the pic it's hard to tell (my crappy photo's don't help) |

Thanks for the tips Al, I need all the help I can get hmmm it might even be worth trying to set up a minature "booth" for lure shots.... If it worked it could possibly take a lot of the trial and error out of it! |

For all my lure shots I try and use my 8meg Fuji Finepix with the good sized flash. It is much better than the 10meg waterproof Olympus for most photo's. A tip I have found is to use a peice of white paper over the flash for close up shots which really defuses the light, just fold it 2 or more times if needed. It provides good light without flashback.

I love the unique design of Allan Sloman's Barra Blasters, fantastic work Allan
Here's a mixture of the original Timber Barra Blasters (the big fella is 50cm including bib) And the two tiny ones at front LHS are early hand signed moulded versions - Of these two the moulded one on the right has a concave belly similar to McSea scorpions |
