I have some of these USA mirror  made lures which look a little like Bellbrooks , especially the jointed ones.
Anyone know whether they predated the bellobrooks? ie they are 65+ years old but unsure of Bellbrook time on the market.
I took a shine to the jointed ones  and collected a few and found them to be effective for Barra.
The one piece body ones are good on mackeral too.

Hi Wayne,
the lures you refer to are L&S MirrOlures, which Bill Southam used as a start point to make his Bellbrook Swaybacks. Like the Wobbler which Bill based on the Heddon River Runt shape, he upgraded the design and hardware for our unique piscatorial conditions.

As for which came first. Harold LeMaster (the L in L&S) first made his jointed minnows in 1933 from walnut. He went on to develop a range of lures and was one of the first manufacturers to dabble in resins and plastics for lure making. The company is still producing lures and is still family owned.
