Lovely Steve, the two little camo ones remind me of the 'barra camo' one you sent me a couple of years ago, nice work, like the logo also.

Made some timber lures with a few details over Winter for this year’s trip to Port Douglas and Weipa and decided to make a couple of RTV molds just in case I wanted to mold some in the future as they were a bit of a pain for me to carve.
It then got a bit out of control when I purchased some resin and decided to pour a couple of them as I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. Much research on the net picking up bits of info here and there and off I went. 18cm Jelatong Stick Vibe Sinking 90 grams 1.6mm stainless wire Made a mold for these as well but have not made any resin ones as yet and as I carved two of them I painted one and kept the other better one as a master in case the mold needs to be remade at a later date. 13.5cm Resin Poppers with rattles Floating 45 grams tail weighted 1.2mm stainless wire I also made a stickbait and mold the same size as the popper with identical carved features and body shape but did not have enough time to produce them for this trip. I carved a 21cm version with the same features but have not made a mold for it yet. 20cm Resin Sardine Stickbaits Sinking 120 grams x 2 Mid weighted to sink level or head down depending on hook size Floating 100 grams x 2 Tail weighted 1.6mm stainless Wire 16cm Resin Mullet Swimbaits Floating 50 grams x 4 Sinking 62 grams x 2 weighted to sink slightly head down 1.2mm stainless wire 2mm stainless pins to join body pieces and pin tail on 1.5mm polycarbonate tails I also made two smaller sizes (approx. 9 and 12cm bodies) and a larger size (approx. 18cm body) Mullet swimbait masters as it was easier to carve them all at the same time, but have not yet made molds for them as I wanted to make sure this one works before I commit to molding the other ones. The carving of these has progressed with details added but I have not taken any pictures so at least this will show the relative sizing of them. These were a challenge to get them all to have the same movement of each body section. They swim pretty well at very slow (barely moving) to medium/fast pace. At a very fast pace the body sections can’t keep up with the water hydrodynamics and they come straight in with not much body action but I imagine that most swimbaits would have this problem where they have an ideal swim pace. They were meant to be fished fairly slowly so this is not a problem for me. I don’t really trust the resin body joints so I made them as fully wired as possible. I don’t care if the resin breaks but I want the fish that does it to stay attached. There is 53cm of wire in each 16cm lure. My brother and mate are also coming on the trip and they wouldn’t use the lures I gave them last year, instead taking them home to display. This year I have made them a Mullet swimbait and Gold popper as the gift pack and as I now know they won’t use them I made a couple of extra Mullet and Poppers for them to actually fish with. I am pretty stoked with the end result and learnt heaps in the process. Steve |

I had enough time before our trip in Novemeber to make some molds for the 19cm swimbait and cast a couple from polyurethane resin. 19cm Resin Mullet Swimbaits Floating 80grams 1.6mm stainless wire 77cm of wire through the body sections for strength 2mm stainless pins to join body pieces and pin tail on 1.5mm polycarbonate tails 19cm Swimbaits Side 16cm and 19cm Swimbaits Side 16cm and 19cm Swimbaits Movement Thanks Steve |

Knocked these Fat Boys up for a member on here a while back as a favour. It would have been nice to get some feedback even if it was that they were no good and didn’t swim. Jellatong 40mm body 65mm overall Stainless tow point and bib pinned with front eyelet. As I am calling my lures “Vicious Fishes” I changed the SB logo I normally put on the bellies to VF. The VF logo is a fish head but you need a bit of imagination to see it. Turmoil resin stickbaits 135mm and 50grams with 2/0 trebles. I lost 2 of the 3 pictured to Barra on bridge pylons in April. Turmoil resin poppers 135mm and 50grams with 2/0 trebles. Havoc 100mm and 125mm cedar lures. Off to Weipa. Chaos 180mm resin stickbaits. Floating 80grams Sinking 95grams suitable for Owner ST66 2/0 and 3/0 trebles. Chaos 200mm resin stickbaits. Floating 95grams Sinking 120grams suitable for Owner ST66 3/0 and 4/0 trebles. Sinking will handle ST66 and ST76 5/0 trebles. Red Bass on a 200mm floating stickbait. GT on a 200mm sinking stickbait. Chaos 220mm resin stickbaits. Floating 120grams Sinking 160grams suitable for ST76 5/0 trebles Couple of stickbaits with people’s names on top. First one is Dusky and the next one is Hot Curry (a bit hard to get a good photo). Thanks Steve |

If you're going up for the Expo in July, be nice to say g'day.

Those Havocs and Fatboys look real good - they should account for a great range of our species for fresh and saltwater between them.

Again thanks heaps for the comments. I don't make heaps but just love making them. Tony, I have slowed down on the Darts but am always open to offers. I will have to post them up one day. Only 10 timber but all 4 sizes mint thanks to you. I also have 184 plastic Darts in approx. 74 different colours(probably more colours as I count similar ones eg different rainbow trout schemes as 1 colour). Thanks again Steve |
