Thanks Jas, lost most of them to snags years ago, the ''Brown Trout'' hooked a VERY nice Flathead @ Sussex Inlet , it came up out of deep water, grabbed the lure turned around and went to the bottom again, and was determined to stay there---------eventually snapped off, so now have none.

Thanks Per, I DO appreciate any one who makes these as I know how much work goes into a "carved" one, these were all made with ''Celuka'' board (expanded PVC sheet). I think the hinge strength are the downfall of all Swim Baits.
The hinges are something I developed ( 2008-10) to replace the old style ''eye hooks'' etc--They are stainless wire made into a "double helix'' which is like a hinge, but you don't need a çentre pin to hold it all together, although I did eventually add a centre pin as it is much more rigid and stronger ( I called them ''DNA hinges'' because of the double helix Wink). I also made a few of these pictured with "Velcro" backing tape hinges, these were indestructible .

Mick, so much to do , so little time mate, these things consume hours per lure, but you are right Mick, bigger is certainly easier.
Pete
P.S It's all coming back---Not sure BUT, I think Carl has one of those pictured Ermm.

Thanks to a guy in the U.S I recently rediscovered these "swim Bait'' pictures, I made them about 10 years back.
I thought I might post them here for safe keeping as I have lost the original pictures ----with all my computer crashes over the years I have lost heaps.
Pete.
(Note... Real ''swim baits" Don't have bibs. LOLWink)
These were all about 10Cm long, the green one was about 12Cm.

I am actually had/having some Lure weekends, where i teach juniors in ouer fishing Club to make wooden Lures. Here we make a model of the Danish stick bait on the Pict. No bib but as you said some lead weight in the belly. If made right thy will have a quit slow wiggle on retrive. This is very good fore ouer salt Water cod and sea-trouts in ouer fjords and coast lines
Here thy are with glued weight, + a Minnow we make

I can't remember P.J, no internet then but probably copies of 'Bellbrook' style lures, made from wooden beads bought from a craft shop---- They always looked promising but I could never get them to work- I know now, with a little bit of lead in the base they probably would have - I also notice I was big on 'eyes', even back then .

Some really great Lures you have made in time Pete. Actually got quit surpriced when i saw the pict. Jason put up off your old Lures. Some look very much like an old Danish stick bait made in the 70´ties. Here are Jasons pict, and some pict from a Danish book published in 1981.

Well I finally got around to finishing my RAYNA display for the shed....I bought a few old display cases last year with full intentions to have this done well before now.
IM CLEANING OUT MY SHED IN A BIG WAY!!! as I cant even get into it!...lifes been far too busy of late.. but Im slowly getting around to long awaited projects.
This lot has a good mixture of petes old lures from the 70s and early 80s up until current....even found a few blanks with all the components waiting for jack and myself to paint and construct....something we have to do soon, as we have been very slack.
A couple of these lures still get used....the red and black one in there has caught a heap of bass.
Only need a couple more lures to fill in the gaps and its completed.
Cheers

I was having dinner at a mates place recently and telling him how I had very few of my old lures in good condition !!
He disappeared into his shed and came out with some lures I gave him years back which he still hadn't used, pristine and still on the card
These are the only 5cm lures of mine (on cards) that I have seen since about 1992 - the brown one must have been a 'market tester' and probably only made 10 as this colour never sold well, although as happens with a lot of colours, it was/is a good trout colour.

Absolutely NIL 'fly'- a lot of those pictured probably don't even swim, most were protos.

As promised pete a few pics of some of the earlier models that Im very honoured to own......and a couple of newer ones....the other newer ones have gone missing!!! Im betting in Jacks tackle boxSmile

The red one with the hooks lives in my tacklebox, and I get great pleasure everytime I get a bass on it
When I throw it on my line, I always say "ok pete, lets get a fish".....its had an eye knocked off, but is holding up well considering its age....

A few of my favourites.... the bumble bee gets me smiling everytime.

A great mix of colors and varying shapes emerging
A different shaped bib!?
 bottom left with two bibs
the old and the new.........Thanks pete....top lures from a top bloke.

Thanks everyone, just had to get all this stuff in one place before I forget it all LOL Big smile
Jas- thanks mate, I think you may a at least one I don't.

Tim-- Good to see them still alive - I don't remember even selling these shapes, they are pretty early on, maybe around 1983-84 (see above Pic 3 - #1), I would not have made many of these and you have one more of them than I .  I also notice the belly hooks are missing, they would have been
#8 'doubles',  not trebles - the small bib (10mm I think) was an early attempt at making a suitable bib punch, I soon made a 20mm punch/press, which was then on all lures to about 1992- 4 - still have the press Jas...... in pristine condition. Wink v Wink
I'm still scratching my head here, I'm thinking maybe someone dug them out of Eucumbene or Jindabine Dam  Smile , still can't remember selling them but that's not unusual LOL.

Matt-  From memory they had a 'Rapala' CD sort of action, just a gentle sway and rather than a steep dive, they planed down horizontally - how deep? I don't really know, as we probably never had 'sounders / sonar'  back then, all I know is they disappeared Confused. there are two different shapes there, the copper bibbed one would have been made around 83 -84, the other more modern shape was made soon after-- see pic 3 - #1 and #2 are different shaped blanks although they both have large bibs??

Thanks again everyone for posting .
Pete
