I accused Bryan of turning green. I've never seen someone so pleased with a day's fishing and only have one fish to show for it. He came across a nursery with 16 egg sites in 150mt stretch of water and that was 28th Aug not Sept as in Fisheries accepted closed season in NSW (not in Glenlyon) , these cod had already found their sites , cleaned them , enticed a female to put her eggs down and stood guard. To have fish slap your boat with his tail what a thrill.
NSW Fisheries found egg sites down the Mole and Dumaresq R on that date as well.

Had to show these photos. Karen Monk caught and released this whopper yesterday afternoon. 120cm on one of her husband's very large spinnerbait, trolled. Unfortunately her husband John also got caught on the same spinnerbait and an operation followed today at Toow. Cod released but John has to spend 2 days on an antibiotic drip.

That is a monster! Well done Karen. It got its revenge by the sound of it, must have done a good job. Those big spinnerbait hooks aren't small.

These are photos of John Monk's sounder. He was amazed at how many fish are showing in the thermocline. His huge spinnerbait is travelling at 14feet and it's obviously hitting the right target area as he did catch and tag 90 cm 93 cm 83 cm plus others. As he moved around the thermocline charged depth so take notice of your sounders. The yellows still haven't come "on the bite" yet which has us puzzled as we know they usually are firing from mid Oct onwards....Cod fishing , if you put in the time has rewards though.

Well done Karen, what a fantastic fish, hope John is ok now. There are plenty of cod in Glenlyon dam, if you spend the time on the water like I know John does. I think Glenlyon dam is overtaking Lake Mulwala as the best cod fishery in Australia. Brian

Check this out.... The Glenlyon Dam Boney bream fishing co-op. Brian thought it was unusual as the pelican either fish independently or let the cormorant do the diving and then take his fish.

I've seen this before on e few dams Deb! The Pelicans will cruise along the shallows until they find the fish, then encircle them and work in unison to scoop up the fish! Smile I've also noticed their other tactic of steaing from Cormorants! It's almost like a protection racket, one Pelican controls a group of Cormorants and won't let another Pelican into his region. In return he gets a quota of the Cormorants catch!! Wink Great to watch...
