*LIKE*

I also have the Malibu Mini X and love it.
The only issue I have in them is I wish they trekked faster through the water.

When I go fishing, speed is not needed as I hit/move from snag to snag slowly.
It's only when the day is ending and I dread the trek back to the car Cry

One of the best small stable yaks I've tested as I even stood up on it (that time I was 80kg) with some good balancing.

I mainly use my yak for skinny water/creeks and small rivers.
Have fished in open water and dams...it handled that ok as well.

Cheers

James

ive got an old Viking Nemo (that leaks),great on the Dams because its got a sounder and pretty stable.also got a cheapie Seak swift which tracks like a dog but is fantastic in small waters where you have to drag it over rocks and logjams .lastly I have a 13ft Canadian canoe which you can put an electric on ,no wet arse and you can troll comfortably all day long

I've got an Australis Bass which is good for dragging through the bush etc. without worrying about things getting caught. It also keeps the sun off the legs, box of lures etc., but does get bloody hot on a sunny summer day!!

If I had the $$ I'd get a small sqaure backed canoe with a small leccy motor for long trips, trolling, pulling fish away from snags or lake work but it would still easily fish the small rivers around here.

I fish with an Ocean Kayak Prowler 4.5m in open water and if I want to cover a lot of water or intend on hooking larger fish. In the fresh skinny waters I use a 2.7m Fish Bandit from Extreme Kayaks on the Sunshine Coast QLD. Both are great Yaks and have their advantages and disadvantages but I think the most important thing is to feel comfortable.
I have just started a Blog at http://mackayakka.com/about/ if anyone is interested in checking it out.

Cheers Scotty

Bob, I have both. A 3 seated pelican canoe for bigger rivers, family sessions and dams like Clarrie Hall. Great canoe which can be paddled standing or has the electric on it. Just too big for skinny water creek bashing but good for extended trips with gear.

My yak is a feelfree x-press which has foot control rudder (IMHO a must) I love this rung and do 80% of my fishing in it. Stable , easy to paddle and light enogh to pull up banks or drag across river rocks.

Also have an inflatable which is great for most areas and a better fishing platform than I had expected
Alistair.

PA can do Lakes, Rivers, Estuaries and inshore.

Seems to be a lot of Malibu Mini-X out there........
I'm very happy with mine. It comes with 2 rod holders and a great centre hatch.
I use it for freshwater creeks and a bit of dam work.

Yes,Steve and James are right on the money with the Australis Bass,I have had mine for 11 years and still thrilled with it.It has been through a lot of whitewater and many bass sessions up to 9 hours in duration and I still LOVE IT!

My favourite is an old sit in Fiberglass single kayak. Local toe truck driver gave it to me.

Been lying out in the weather for years, scrubbed it down, sprayed a coat of lacquer on it. Then tied on various bungee cords.

It is a go anywhere Yak, drag it over rocks, logs, sandbanks. Bullet proof. Love it.

The Australis & minnow plastics were great little yaks.

I had an old F/glass slalom yak I wanted to modify for fishing but after too many rapids and year out in the weather, it wasn't worth fixing. Would have been cheaper to buy a new one.
