Sometime around 1989/90 Rob gave me these 2 lures while he was visiting Peter Newell.

I've had the Deep Dan stored with a heap of old lures but I only found the tiny Scorpion in the bottom of one of my old tackle boxes, a couple of days ago.  The Scorpion is the tiniest Scorpion that I've ever seen and is showing signs of it's age and neglect!

I'm not sure how scarce these lures are, or what their value might be, but would be interested to know.

Cheers

Nice old RMGs there Travers - don't see a lot of small deep dans around and the scorpion - well I guess that speaks for itself.

As there's some provenance with them as well as a back story they would certainly be collectible.

Here is another small RMG Scorpion Travers.
Apparently purchased from Archies Bait & Tackle , Caboolture between 1989 -1990.
The story goes that Peter has some problems in supplying small scorps, so Rob was asked to send a few up.

That RMG tiny Scorpion would be one of the one's that John Bennett produced for Peter.  It would have been more likely to have been purchased around 1990-1991 when Peter and John teamed up.  Peter had heaps of the lathe turned blanks and bibs.  Peter gave me a couple, which I painted up.  He and Rob were friends back then, so I'd say Peter's given Rob heaps of the blanks.

I might take the little Deep Dan and tiny Scorpion up to the Expo, to see if anyone there can give me an idea of their worth.  I reckon that they are both pretty rare, particularly the tiny Scorp.

Saw these on the weekend and they are very nice. Very small, smaller than any I have seen before. I am sure the new owner is laughing to have them.

They were smaller than what I thought mate, $250 for a couple of rare lures was a great price i thought !

Cheers,

I did sell them at the Expo and it wasn't for $250. It was significantly more than $300. I had no hope of getting to the Traders Table, because I was over the other side of the hall trying to sell a few of my own lures.

I had other 'collectible lures' to sell and no way of getting to the trading area. Fortunately, a couple of mates let some buyers know what I had and I was able to sell them at my stand.

Cheers

Hi Allan, the centre one of these three Scorps is the same as yours also found in Brisbane. Not 100% sure on the maker of any of them.
