These are hand made lures manufactured in the mid 1800, s by local Sitka Eskimo,s.They were made from mostly natural materials that included
Grasses, mammoth ivory, walrus ivory, sea lion ivory and shells balleen,sinue and stone.
I found them in the local museum yesterday.

Barry, they are great, 'Mammoth Ivory' must've been a bugger to carve LOL.

Thanks fore posting these Barry. Always very interested to see old Lures. I have offent got inspired by that. One thing imidatly stroke me looking at the second pict. Seing the left mid. Lure i thought : thats an ABU. Lucas. Look at the pict i toke, and see why. Hope you have a really good trip, and looking foreward to see more from it Thumbs Up

Bob there are many lures primarily made from mammoth ivory however I have not come across a lure as of yet to snare the mammoth.

FForgot to mention that artifact mammoth pieces range from $500 up to thousands for a small piece.
