G'day guys, nothing special about these spinnerbaits except that I made the mould myself. Mould made from SCA body filler. Other than hand twisted wireframe and paint job, the rest of the components are "off the shelf". Not really what I call 'lure making' more like lure assembly. Helps fill the bass spinnerbait bag though! The buzzbait blade was cannibalised from a $1 Walmart special buzzbait to beef it up for an Aussie bronze battler.
Approx 3/8 oz, I've also poured a few twinspins and made a couple into chatterbaits too. Just finished making a mould for a 1/8 oz spinnerbait that I plan on pouring a few next week. I just use a camping gas cooker and stainless steel ladel to melt and pour the lead. Cheers,Tim |

You don't have to fall trees to be called a builder
And they look good There's no better feeling than catching fish on your own creations, If you don't know already your going to

I haven't had much time to make timber lures of late so have filled the gap by playing around with pouring lead. I've experimented with making a few different moulds and have filled the bass arsenal a bit more for summer.
A variety of small spinnerbats and buzzbait Tailspinners, I shaped a blank out of clay and made a mould from it. Should be around 1/2oz. Haven't been able to weigh it yet. Chatterbaits 3/8os Twin spin and Siamese spinnerbaits Not quite the same as shaping a bit of timber, but it adds variety to lure making |

Thanks guys, I can't take credit for the Siamese spinnerbait. I have seen them made for cod, I just down sized for bass. I'm hoping it looks like a small school of baitfish swimming past

Have just seen a lure on the Livetarget lure manufacturer from the states that has 4 or 5 small baits linked together with a blade as well. Looks like a small group of bait fish...was on the USA tackle show ready for realise soon. Looks very expensive and easy to get damaged by a big fish

The skirts can be found at quite a cheap price nowadays.
Is the movement or the colours of the skirts the important factor to look for. Regards John

As for colours, it is no different to hard bodies and everyone will have their own favorites. I tend to like dark colours or natural. With spinnerbaits,I thinks it is the flash and vibration that attracts the fish more than colour?

Knocked up a rendition of a baitball spinnerbait this afternoon. It is about 1/4 to 3/8oz. There are 3 smaller 50mm squidgy fish as teasers and an 80mm squidgy fish. Came up ok for a first try, just need to paint it up and clear coat. Swims quite well in the pool. Tim |
