my son is a registed snake relocator and keeper. at the moment his snakes are starting to shed. have a lowlands copperhead skin if anyone wants it. the rest of his snakes will be shedding soon, pythons, st george mulga, death adder, red belly, diamond and jungle pythons. also has some gecko skins which totally white and fully lizard shaped. any lure makers want any, pm me. post some photos later......mick

That death adder would be nice on a lure. Don Lawson used the skin off a red belly black snake and he reckons it totally nailed the cod.

Yep a death adder, the largest ones are found around the Illawarra. Ours in Cooktown are usually about 50 cm long, about half the size as  those in southern NSW.

Brother in law down here on the coast (near Batemans Bay) killed one last spring (about 1 M), a lot darker than one pictured though--
I never knew they were this far South- We marauded around the mountains behind Wollongong for years as a kid, saw black snakes and carpet snakes, never heard of these--eeeeeeeeeek.

Hi All,

Slightly off topic - But slightly on story below - Shortened version.

When Steve Erwin was all the rage, took my daughter out along channel for a fish.

Came across tiger snake had fallen into water pumping pit, 2m square by 2m deep, curled up on pipe above 50cm water.

Daughter says daddy it will die in there, silly daddy says will rescue it if still there tomorrow

Next day I take butterfly net, drop down into pit, snake goes underwater, I get cocky feeling around in water with net and hand till find / catch it.

Had a friend film the episode as daddy picks snake up by tail, carries it into grass and releases it unharmed.

Show footage to daughter when get home as proof and copped a serve that daddy you could have been hurt.

Later learnt that they can still bite you under water - Oop`s

The things we do for our kids
