Basically so easier storage and transportation. They came with a cotton rod bag, one section per compartment. The amount of "saved space"was negligible so it was basically a gimmick that didn't really take off. It would have more of an impact if more people back then used rod tubes.

The actual blank itself on these rods are great.

also with the first runner being of a bigger size made it easier for casting, specially with side-cast reels.... mick

I also had a Mundoo with that guide. It was made for easier travelling and storage. Was a very good rod and sad that I off loaded it now.

Yes, I've seen them used om some older solid glass rods! Jarvis Walker would be one brand that I remember seeing them, albeit a little different to that one...

I took this off an old rod that had been repaired. It was the first guide. It unscrews and folds down. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Perhaps someone has repurposed it?
