Acquired these at a closing down sport store sale in the early eighties, the only time I have seen these hooks.
Does any one know why the bend in the tip is added I thought they were mustard brand but did not find them in their hook catalogue which I have.
Anybody able to offer any info
Regards John

My interpritation to why these have turned out tips is a better hook up rate.Makes sense i think.
When striking a bite it would have a much better chance to hook up compared to a conventional hook..
Correct me if im wrong but some countries have ban them

Thanks Barry and Nando
There seems to be a lot of extra work to add the additional bend. Maybe it was a limited run.
I have a least three sizes in two differance types of material and may even find more if I looked hard enough.
No doubt they were introduced some considerable time ago
I saw on a tape making hooks in U K sometime ago on very old antiquated machinery

I do not thinks the hooks were very popular. I came across mine when a sport store closed its doors in the 80's. Must have held the stock for 20 years with limited sales.

Pescaro Hooks are still made today, popular in the commercial fishery industry in Europe and North America.
The Brand is now owned by Englund Marine Group of Oregon US. No details as to where the hooks are actually made, but I would be guessing Korea or China. The brand has been also been applied to terminal tackle and rod/reels by Englund. Brad |

Thanks Brad Back in the 60's they appear to have been made in West Germany.
Interesting that they are still in use.

Did anybody else happen to find any of this style of hook in their tackle box
I had someone chase me up from USA awhile ago. Evidently they have fishing hook clubs in America. Must have picked up the post via the Google search engine. Regards John
