Here are my Big river lures.

They are made up of Kelpie's (walk the dog style lure) and the smaller version the Pup's. Nearly a full colour set in both.

Also you can see a popper which is called a Kidney Slapper.  Paul made these as a bit of unfinished business from the Deceptions as he wanted to make some surface lures.

Here's a closer shot of a Kidney Slapper, unfortunately it is the only Big River Lure that I own (at the moment).

Paul still has a few left on the wall if your interested in getting more. I am sure a phone call would result in some going your way. Might work out cheaper too going directSmile

Got some better photo's, plus picked up a few more of the Kidney Slappers and a number of doubles in the Pup's. I am looking for a Black bodied and Red head pup (same paint style as the black and green one in the pic) Will pay $$ or trade for it. Also looking for any gaps in the Kelpie's and Kidney Slappers. All my lures are signed by Paul including any doubles I have Big smile

Paul did a number of variations just to make it hard. A trait he brought over from Deception it seems. You can pick these differences in the Pup's where the purple ones have reversed eye colours and the ones on the left have different lateral lines or colours. These have not been made for a while now and with the sale of his lathe you will not be seeing any more Big River Lures hitting the shelves.

These are my Pup's

And my Kelpie's (added the doubles I have to make it look moreLOL)  I knew I had another colour somewhere when i was taking the photo's and looked right through my Kneller lures box but with no luck. It was not until I looked at this post and saw the Olive green one in my original pic that I remembered it was sent away to another collector for a short loan periodConfused. My memory is shocking this week, a trip to Sydney does that to a personLOL

And the Kidney Slapper's.

Why did he give it away? He makes some great lures.
I think I know of a few still hanging on a shelf somewhere will have to grab a couple before there all gone.

Paul Kneller made all Deception's prior to the sale of some (not all) models to Tacspo. He also made Big River Lures then sold his copy lathe and remaining blanks etc, etc

Paul's Deceptions and Big River lures including the Sardinops, Pup's and Kidney Slappers were first made by Paul then the rights moved on to others

The current lures availables are still stunning lures, but now not made by Paul

I think Paul just is moving on and has found other things to take his interest. He still has the Big River Lures name and is making and distributed the "Shake and Bake" range of metal vibe lures which these days are selling in higher numbers than the timber lures and I guess easier to make as well. A busy tackle shop does not run itself either and as he likes to fish as much as possable it is probably a time to prioritise what he does so life can be enjoyed more. He also has developed an unhealthy desire to collect guitars which is a passion he enjoys with his son (not a fishing thing so I dont understand itLOL).

Worth while grabbing a few of his lures if you find them and put away. The timber lures in this post, as well as the Sardinops and a couple of other minnow type lures (a smaller bass lure and a larger pelagic type lure) have been sold to Tom of Gidgee lures who have added these to his already established line up of timber lures so these designs will continue to live on and develope overtime. So anything prior to early 2010 would be worth grabbing as a Big River lure and after this time as a Gidgee lure.Big smile

Kris I think all the poppers are gone, but we still have some Pups (walk the dog) down the shop, you can give Cheryl a call on 0266451834 if you want some, cheers Paul.
