There is another popper that looks almost (if not exactly) the same style that was made by "Lee's Lures" here's a pic of a couple.

I have no idea where these were made although the first one I got was from Vic Hislop in Hervey Bay (I think he said he got it in the 80's) and the other I picked up on ebay amongst some other lures. I love the cone style poppers- my favourite style popper for Barra, the pink one accounted for over a dozen Barra in a session over a few hours at Lenthalls a few years back.

Cheers, Tony

Rob I am almost certain it was not Leads. The first time I saw that shape was when Gary Wright started using them in the mouth of the Jardine River and had great success trolling them close to the boat in the wake for queenfish.

I've never seen that many Lee's together Barry Thumbs Up

Sorry Laurie, it looks like we've hijacked your thread Embarrassed Although it would be great to find out the relationship between the Lee's, Nautilus and Killalure cone poppers

I have tried to find out who made the Lee's and where but never did find out!

Cheers, Tony

Laurie,It appears Lees are made in Townsville.I am waiting to speak with someone re his name. The Killalea has a different sharp edged cup as apposed to the rounded cup on your other lure. All of mine appear to have the rounded cup but I have seen a couple years ago with the sharp edge. Two different lures I think.

Your orange/white cone popper looks like a Munt with a Nautilus respray Laurie.

I found this while browsing Nautilus to tie in the paint colour with Sonny's Dempster on
the unknowns.

To clear up a few points here on this old post, the 95mm & 75mm Cone Poppers made by Killalure & Lees are the same blanks ex Cornall p/l in Melbourne. When I  purchased D.Ks timber making side of his the poppers were included to buy as blanks. The smaller ones in Capt.Crankys pics are 60mm turned on a small lathe by me, as most are today. The Cone popper has been very successful in all manner of species caught in N.Q. and duplicated by many makers. Who did the first ones??, be interested to hear your thoughts. Cheers Richard
