Hi. Just after a bit of advice on gang hooks for beach fishing for tailor.
In the past I've just used Mustad 4202D hooks, which are ok and I've had the Gamakatsu gangsters, but found them to be abit soft and open up and lose a hook or 2 off the gangs. Now im looking at the tru turns 711, they come rigged with swivels, not sure what the swivels are like, Or am i best to rig my own with some shoguns!? The other hooks im thinking are the Mustad 4202BLN hooks. I think these are ment to be abit better than the 4202D hooks ive used in the past. Well if anyone can help me as to what is the best option that would be great. Cheers,Blake |

4200d are the best, even though they are a bit more work.
You will need to bend the eye PLUS a similar length of shank, open the eye a little, push the next hook through and close it up. This is far more flexible and will not come apart. |

I use the 4202d but only gang 3 together with a small swivel between hooks - swivel small enough so it can't slip over the barb. This means that you don't have to open up the eye as much- less metal fatigue, and that when you hook a fish, the swiveling hook does not work against the hook above it which can (and has to me) cause the eye to open / break.

Thanks guys. I think I'll stick with the Mustad hooks but try the 4202BLN open eye hooks & put some swivels on them..
