Cedar “Havoc” minnows

Made a couple of Widetail versions this time to beef the rear end up a bit.
I have never had the rear end break yet but I am a bit suss of it every time I make them.
The action is about the same as the standard ones which makes me happy.

Used Etex for these and ended up with a few bubbles in the clearcoat.
Heaps more hassle than spraying 2 pack clear.

Learnt a couple of tricks with these.
How to easily keep paint off the eyelets without scraping gouges into the stainless wire to get the hardened paint off.
How to paint vaguely round eyes on an awkward rounded surface without freaking out.

If only I could take a half decent photo.

6.5, 8, 10, 12.5 and 15cm

6.5cm Shallow and 6.5cm Deep Widetail

8cm Deep Widetail, 8cm Deep and 8cm Shallow

10cm Deep and 10cm Shallow

12.5cm Deep and 12.5cm Shallow

15cm Deep and 15cm Shallow

8, 10, 12.5 and 15cm Copper and Mango

6.5, 8, 10, 12.5 and 15cm Black / Gold

Thanks for the responses as it is always great to get some feedback.

Sent these off to a guide up north a while ago and this is his reply.
I am pleased to get a decent response as this rarely happens.

"Hey mate , yer the paint work was unbelievable I seriously didn't have any issues with paint peeling or clear coat coming off they were great the two bigger lures you send are unbelievable and chewed to peices now but still swimming perfect . The only issue I had was the mackerel bend the metal bibs and was hard to try get to swim straight again but a little tinkering and there back on track . The smaller lures are catching plenty of fish but having to work them a lot harder to get them to twitch and roll but like I said still working great . That little gold one works great drains fishin for barras and I love how bouyent it is . Maybe a solution to the bibs getting bent is try acrylic bibs but I'm not to sure ? My favourite by far was the larger green red and yellow especially down the coast worked great trolled casted what ever . All in all they been great and I will sit down and organise some photos and take a few more to send through."

A few more "Chaos" resin stickbaits.

I am making a small number of resin stickbaits for sale. If interested send me a pm.

18cm floating and 22cm sinking Yellowfin Tuna

18cm sinking and 20cm floating Copper Mango

20cm sinking and 22cm floating Green Slimy Mackerel

Thanks
Steve

I did this one for the girlfriend of my son to give to her dad for Fathers Day.

22cm "Chaos" stickbait in Purple Yellowfin as purple is his favourite colour.
I personalised it by putting his name on top.

Thanks
Steve

My son asked for a Canberra Raiders lure for his birthday.

As he doesn't fish but does drink I made him a Raiders bottle opener.

I didn't want to just do stripes or green with Raiders written on it so I decided to try and do him a representation of the Raiders 2015 special "Hulk" jersey.

I chose a Kadaitcha style lure as that is pretty Aussie, had a nice feel in the hand with its curves and also gave me a good size canvas to paint. I used White beech as it is pretty tough.

I picked up 3 bottle openers from the Salvos for $1 that I thought would give me a reasonable Kad bib shape. One was nearly perfect.
I cut off the can opener from the end and shaped it a bit to get the Kad shape bib except for the skinny part where it enters the lure.
Glued and pinned the bib in as I didn't want it to break when in use.
Went to work painting it by airbrush and hand. Painted Victor Viking on the back so there was no mistaking it as a Raiders paintjob and enlarged the stripes on the side to stand out. Swapped out the sponsor name for VF Lures and gave it 3 coats of Etex. Rounded of the treble points and covered them with heatshrink and fitted oval split rings of course.

It swims well and also opens beers.

I gave it to him yesterday and he was pretty happy.

This is the image I copied from
