I have just finished restoring a few more old C Lures and thought you would all like to see.
6" CARL GRIST BIGEYE BEFORE. Note the nose is completely broken out due to the old rusted mild steel eye.

6" CARL GRIST BIGEYE AFTER. Now with shiny new polished stainless steel eye.

4" BIGEYE BEFORE

1 x CARL GRIST & 2 SEL COOKTOWN TIGERS BEFORE

TWO MORE.

This is what they look like now as a group.

And this is my Hybrid "C" Lure/OCD Gold set so far.

I would like to thank those members that have got me started on this venture and a big thanks to Carl (Grey Nomad) for his help. If anyone has any old C Lures that would suit restoration and that they are willing to part with, please PM me, I am looking to grow my little collection.
Cheers,

Gavin

Thanks everyone. I know they are not originals but they are going to form part of a display I have started. All Gold C Lures by all the different makers. Carl Grist never painted them in this colour scheme, hence the hybrids. I could not have a display of C Lures without showing those made by the original maker now could I.
Thanks Tony, I will PM you re the CL4. It is one I don't have. Looks like it might be in too good of condition for me to defame though. I don't want to destroy any that are collectable in there current condition.

Cheers,

Gavin

Just finished another two to add to my slowly growing collection of restored C Lures. A Cooktown Tiger Deep and a CL4.

The bibs have been marked under the clear coat to avoid any confusion down the track. Not that they are ever likely to go anywhere, they are staying with me Big smile.

Hope you all like them.
Cheers,

Gavin

Thanks to a few members of Lure Lovers, I have a few more models currently being restored but I have realised that my dream of ending up with a full set of models is exactly that A DREAM. Even more so knowing that there is 30 odd just of Carl's. Lots of models still to go, I'll keep working on the set but some models I don't think I will ever be lucky enough find.
Cheers,

Gavin

Rick,
We are doing the full trip round, from Launceston across to Bicheno, down to Hobart, Strahan, Cradle Mt, Stanley and back to Launceston. 2 weeks in total, I know we are not going to get to see everything but should see a fair chunk of it.
Cheers,

Gavin

I managed to finish off the latest batch of restorations and realised I have not yet posted up the last 2 from a few months back. So this is a medium deep Masterbait and a CL4 that have undergone some cosmetic surgery. Neither are by Carl but they are still examples of C Lure Models.

And this is the latest batch just finished.

The top lure, the 4" Big Eye, originally had the brass eye, which was painted over and an eye was painted on. When I stripped it back, I had to see what a polished brass eye would look like in a gold lure. It looks good to me, so I will display it like this and it shows the different metals used to make the eyes.
The others are a shallow Masterbait, a deep Masterbait, a CL3 and a Big River 3 hooker. Once again none of which are by Carl but they are other models to add to the display.
Once again I need to thank some members for helping out. I won't name them for fear of leaving someone out but you guys know who you are. Thanks again.

Cheers,

Gavin

I started this collection of Carl's lures back in 2012, with help from many and especially Carl himself, I have managed to put together 30 Models and a lot of work has gone into getting them all together in the one colour scheme. Carl even supplied a few of his newer lure models, a big thank-you to those who have been of help along the way.
Cheers,

Gavin
