Usually small raider like lures, if they start getting fussy then I like to switch over to one with red or a pink on. If all else fails then a small Abu Toby type lure worked slowly.

BOB, ya can paint barrel sinkers an use them. Crank FAST!
The Old Faithful, Half by Quarter in Chrome, off the Rocks.
Troll XMas Trees, Cast Chrome Slices.
Have used Raiders, they worked, but an 85g Chrome Slice outdone them about 3 to1.
Green, Blue, or Pink Prism Tape often helped.

Half x Quarter is the ONLY lure for tuna off the rocks.
I hate to think how many tons of Bonnies were caught at places like Wybung on these.

Crystal eyes from Jervis Bay are the frigate lure that all should be measured against, then barrel sinker covered in white heat shrink, and the old juro shin a,s, and small wonder pilchards, any thing shiny that could be cast really far, and wound back really fast!

Small thick toby's types- dunno if they are still readily available Bob. But if you need to get any distance with them then they need that extra weight.

Wal, this would be a great 'lead into' Lure Fishing.
Wouldn't wanna lose him before he even starts!
For newbies, 1,000,000 casts for 3 strikes would not be encouraging.
How did you start???
Sorry, not the right thread, will create a new one for this subject.
Cheers   MAL
