Nice little estuary that, Never fished it though. Should have all the usual species.
Hope Big River Paul sees this, as he is almost local at Maclean and has all the good oil on the area.

Yeah I love Wooli, especially in the winter time. It has it's own little micro climate, being a finger of land between the river and the sea. Plenty of Bream at this time of the year, and there should be still be a few lizards kicking about. Trevally are an all year proposition, especially up the Barcoongere arm (left arm). But the best tip of all, the Chinese food in the Bowlo Wink, Cheers Paul.

Thanks guys, I'll check the spots and have a crack. I'll also be hooking into the Chinese, I'll take some pics if I land something.

Brett when you went to Wooli and bought those lures, were they the big jewie lures that Dizzy Borg used to make. Dizzy "sold" those molds to a bloke that lives there now the locals at Iluka have trouble getting them.

Just a bit of useless trivia about lovely quiet Wooli, did you know that the Mr.Asia drug syndicate used it to offload their heroin in the 1970's?
They'd wait in Wooli for the drug filled mothership to arrive, then go out in small fast fishing boats to pick-up. Complete with fishing tackle and appropriate dress to give the impression of innocent anglers LOL.
So be wary of any shady looking characters at the boat-ramp.
Seaweed.

Big river - it was the tackle shop owner over at Iluka complaining and that they lose customers elsewhere to get them. Apparently they are the "go to" jewie lure in the area.

Yeah I generally buy them unpainted and do them myself, as his paint jobs look like they are done at Child care.

As a bit of an amateur myself, I'm just a bit disappointed at your "Child Care" comment re' the paintwork. Most unusual for a comment of that nature to appear here. Do you have to paint them yourself to make them "sellable".

"Yep!" Ron knows his paint work is pretty ordinary, that's why he brings them to me all natur'al LOL Not a problem if you are happy with your paint work as it is, the problem only raises it's head if you want to hang them on the wall and sell them, you got to stand out from the rest, for the right reason Wink

geez id of thought if the locals cant get them cause they are selling too fast, that would be the right  reason enough not touch them...obviously a good fishing lure, and paint jobs either good or bad are what gives a lure and its maker individuality.......
Not trying to be a smartass, we all think differently, which is a good thing, otherwise life would be boring.
I like lures that work....and prefer an element of not quite perfect, than something too ritzy...but that's just meThumbs Up

I think I remember Paul saying once that he has never had a fish walk into his shop with a walletLOL I know a flash paintjob is much more for the fisherman but until fish start walking with wallets in hand it will stay they way if a shop owner wants to move stockThumbs Up

To put it in proper Iluka parlance "They were "the go to Jewie lure" mainly cause they used to buy them direct and very "Cheap!". If Ron had an order worth driving to Iluka for, he would be there in a flash. I have sold more of his poppers mail order to the NT then I do local, Billy Clarke's Mantis would eat it as a local Jew lure.
