yeah I started of on a couple of those,then came fiberglass and now where are Carbon Fibre etc.
The split cane caught plenty for me,bought back some memories of days gone by. Might be worth doing up? Cheers Jimbo |

I learnt how to catch nigs on these when I was a kid with my grandfather, I wish I new then how to look after them better.

As a side note on these rods...one of the pics shows a guide with a plastic / ceramic insert, which means that the original guide was replaced IMHO. Or else the rod is a lot newer.
"insert guides" on rods were of early 1970's - early 1980's IF I think of it The handles themselves appear to be wood...telling me 1940's approx |

Riverman dave, not sure about your side of the pond, but makers were using porcelain and agate (type of silica rock) insert guides here back in the '60s possibly even before that.
However one of those rods looks to have cushioned rings, and they are a relatively new innovation. Cheers Brad |
