Curley Lures have been made by Brian Kennedy from Muswellbrook for the past 30 years plus.

I was given a pair of his lures from a guy here in Wollongong and Gary (RAVA) Akers produced a similar carded Curley lure with his name and address that gave me the lead to correctly id my pair..

Many phone calls ensued and I eventually drove up to Brian's at Muswellbrook and had a good 2 hour chat over all things lures n fishing.

Brian started out with a knife, then onto Stanley blades and eventually moving into mechanisation with a band saw, linisher etc that now stand proud in his pristine clean workshop within his double garage.

Originally he sold his lures up and down the Hunter area (Newcastle NSW) at weekend markets and the like, until his good wife's health deterioated to the extend they could not travel.

Curley still carves a few lures here as time and health permits.

During our chat, I sort of agreed to sell a few lures for him and I shared a table with Mencho Lures up at the last Fernvale Expo.

I have a wide range of them stocked here in a local tackle shop at Windang, Burrinjuck Kiosk and sales are steady. I would suggest I still have over 500 of his lures of all shapes and sizes - all for sale - going cheap.

Some photos of his handiwork...

I dont have issue with anyone contacting him direct, but be mindful of his elderly wife who usually answers the telephone as Brian has difficulty understand conversation at times despite a hearing aid. With all due respect to Mrs Kennedy, you may receive a curt reply however.

Let me know if I can help further.

Wadey

I like the bat / moth / winged looking luresThumbs Up. I think I have some Curleys just by sussing out the paint jobs as they are pretty distinctive.

Here's a couple of Curly's Lures he gave me years ago, these two haven't touched the water yet but I may give a run next trip..

Plus this is my favourite Hard-At-It lure which has claimed many Yella's and a few very nice Cod mainly from Copeton and Keepit Dams..

Here's my small collection of "Curleys" lures. He certainly liked to experiment! They all have unique actions and would be great on our native fish... Smile
