Here are a couple of Whitmore lures I picked up this week from Todd. Now I have them in hand and can have a good look I think they are Ray's version of the Timber Boomerang. Speaking to Paul Knellor they would of been made before the MegaBoomer (Which the early ones have a very similar shape) which puts these around 15-20+ yrs old. Hope to have confirmation on this soon.
95mm and 125mm from bum to bib tip.
I like them
And here is a pic showing the larger one beside some Timber Boomerangs that Barrablaster posted.

Love the Whitmore Boomerangs Alistair and of particular interest is the twisted wire tow point. It seems he may have made a few different lures with that style tow point.

whitmore lures with twisted wire tow points were his own personal lures own use before going into production. these lures reached greater depths than the loose fitting tow clips that allowed over rotation of the action at the expence of depth. twisted wire towing points gave considerable gain in depth. but they did not look attractive or professonal hence the change in design.

Wow thanks for the info. Makes these even more special.
In the chance you might be able to shed some light for me, were these a version of the boomerang and were many made or ever go into production
And would you have any info on these 3 lures. I assumed the 3 holes were for various depth / action but any info on this and or their background and number would be great.
I generally collect North coast and New England lures but the Whitmores and Knellor lures both hold pride of place on the wall of my office For the age of them both (and the Whitmores beat Deceptions on this front, sorry Paul) the finish and paintjobs of these lures are something special.

Great looking lures, love the look of the "crayfish" style lures. The model with the 'claws' is a very interesting design. how did they swim?
Cheers

Swim? Buggered if I know, but they look nice hanging on the wall in front of my desk. One day I might throw them in the pool for a look but like my Newells I suspect not.

Close Barry but not quite. This is a Whitmore Cray. A nice colour too and luckily for you one that I already have otherwise state law would require the return of it

As far as stuff ups go, that's a nice one Barry - You have to love the end result
Simon, your kind gesture of allowing Cranky San an opportunity to "save face" shows that you are indeed a man of great compassion |

I am all heart.
A nice pick up by Barry but I reckon he could find a collectible Australian timber lure in the Sahara.
