I had a rush of blood, during the week, and decided to make a couple of Mega Diggers.
My entire Digger range looks like this: From top to bottom: Digger, Little Digger, Tiny Digger and Micro Digger. Only the Little Digger and Micro Digger exist in my current lure range. I still make the Digger in a 'signed', collectable format and haven't made the Tiny Digger for about 18 years. The Mega Digger is simply the Digger template doubled in size but, in 3 dimensions, looks much bigger. After I undercoated 45 lures and glued a batch of lures, I carved one of these monsters, today. Damn hard work and it uses my scarce 45mm thick cedar that I need for the big Kaditchas. I gave the Mega Digger a swim in the test tank and the 6lb line broke! Will put some heavier line on Tomorrow and give it another swim. I also carved a half Mega Digger. Now I've got to find somewhere to put it! Cheers Travers |

Love the look of your lures Travers
Quick question, when you scale up your lures do you increase the thickness of the bib material? Cheers Justin |

Bib thickness is relative to the size of the lure and whether or not it's towed from the bib. All of the Digger range have 1mm - 1.2mm aluminium bibs. The Mega Digger has a 1.6mm thick bib. The 1.6mm is about as thick as I can cut with my tin snips. Cheers Travers

Had a couple of orders for the Mega Digger, which ended up turning into 2 full Digger sets.
I also carved 3 more for me, ready for the next Cod trip. Cheers Travers

Stunning lures Travers. Shows how good a simple colour scheme can look if done properly.

Thanks for the positive comments. I'm pretty happy with the sets. Can't wait to drag one of the Mega Diggers around a dam, to see how it goes.
The half Mega Digger also turned out OK. My youngest daughter has just bought an old federation house in Bathurst, so I reckon that's where this lure will end up. Just need to find the right place to put it. The kitchen might be a good place to start, or the hallway. We'll be in Bathurst the week after next, to see if there is any excess cedar that needs to removed from the house! Cheers Travers |
