Just thought I'd put up some photos of my favourite Bass and Yellowbelly trolling lures from the mid 90s. Back in the SEQ Catch and Release comp era. It was a great time to be fishing the SEQ Dams.

As you can see Green and Purple were my favourite colours, and got pretty battle-scarred. I had a few that went MIA over the years - which was always a tragic event...

I am not sure I could bring myself to fish them now as they are highly treasured amongst my collection.

Cheers,

Matt

Some old warriors there Matt! I just checked through my old dam box and found a few interesting ones.. I still have the first two Somerset lures I made (inspired by the wooden 60mm Boomerang) The black one was the first made and had caught over 500 fish before it got hung up on an eel trap in Moogerah! I sent the tackleback down and only retrieved the bib!! Cry I knocked up another body and put it back in service.
The green one had a bib made from acetate that I was trialling at the time. Between them they have accounted for over a thousand fish...Star

Also found the first Wivenhoe model that has undergone a few colour changes during its' life LOL And a Somerset 4m that my wife used to catch a 14kg East Coast Cod in Maroon a few years ago.. Star

Good stuff Ian! Those lures definitely got a workout - 500 fish!

Time to hang those lures on the wall?

Good cod by your wife too, especially out of Maroon.

Cheers,

Matt
