Here's a cool Albert Hall mouse that turned up today. I am impressed by how realistic a mouse imitation it is, and very happy to add it to my collection of Aussie Timber Meeces Big smile

Apparently Albert hall and his hand made reels are mentioned in Bob Dunn's "Angling in Australia, it's history and writings" "Australian Fishing Reels" I have had a quick look at my copy and found references to A.D Hall in Tasmania in the early 1900's, although I don't know if this is the same fellow as yet. It looks like I really need to make the time to read Bob Dunn's excellent book in full!

Edit: I was looking in the wrong book EmbarrassedLOL

Anyone have a copy of "Australian Fishing Reels" by Bob Dunn?

Sorry Nicho Embarrassed

I reckon it's a cracker of a lure and was surprised it didn't get pushed a fair bit higher!

I look forward to hopefully learning a little history about Albert Hall, and his involvement in fishing in Australia Thumbs Up

Tony,

The first update (Issue No 2) has a giant threadline made by Albert Hall,Hurstville,NSW, c.1960

Made in very limited quantities, utilising a gear box from the end wing-flaps of a Catalina flying boat.

Cheers,Jim

I'm not sure what the eyes are made from Nicho, I imagine Albert used some sort of pin.

Here's some info on Albert Hall from the"Australian Fishing Reels" supplement:
