I have just two wooden stumpjumpers. They were bought by me from Rex Hunt's former tackle store in Elizabeth Street Melbourne in the late 1980s. I think I paid $16.50 for them. Any how I kept them in the hope that one day I would go after cod and they would be my lures of choice. They have never had a swim and the way the market has moved they may never be used but they will always be a lovely pair of lures. Thanks to Rod and Brett for reminding me that I had separately promised them to post these pics some time ago. Regards, Ken

Have always liked the shape of these lures, classic original design for the intended job, extracting large cod from deep snags. Only one thing I feel could have improved them, wish the maker had painted eyes in different colours, thereby giving collectors a greater challenge, those cheap stick-on eyes are a disappointment.

Ha Seaweed !
You'll get a bite for sure out of me !!! Rather than follow the crowd with painted eyes, John thought the reflective eyes might be an added fish attractant ! As for the different coloured eyes to collect - I have enough problems trying to get the two (Silver and Gold) eyed version Stumpys !!! Again great looking lures Ken !!!! |

Lovely lures and I'm still looking for just one, soas I can say I've gotten one from every Aussie maker.
Still have a few southern makers to go, but this is one I'd like. If anyone has a few, would like a mint rare Eric Moller sardine, I'll swap it for a Stumpie .
Regards, Seaweed.

Yeh I'm with you seaweed. Just wonder how long those eyes would of lasted in the northern conditions.
