A friend Tom Wallbank has spent some time doing up his Uncle's reel for me. Any ideas on who made it? 12cms. No markings on it to help me.

Just found a pic of a similar looking reel in a book I picked up at a junk shop this morning.
Looks like a "Starback" from England or Ireland.

Brian had a good look through the Bob Dunn Australian reel book and this is the two we come up with.
It is identical to the Nottingham but the Bill Woods from Ballina is the 5"reel and that is where Tom lives. So my next move is to show Keith Alcorn.

these guys have a lot of different makers Deb,i think the generic term for them is nottinghams.the first ones were made in England over 100 years ago and don't look much different to the more recent ones
