I just picked this up recently with a batch of old lures.

I was told this River King was made for a PNG Black Bass Trip. The body is just shy of 5 inches long, with the bib it is nearly 7 inches. Timber with Lexan bib, signed as River King.

Nice solid old lure!

For attachment of a heavy clip/snap then tied hard to leader. Also worked with loop knot on heavy leader but loop wear probable.

Had one many years ago, Swam well. Crash dive!  Shocked

Barney.

Matt in this picture you will see complete tow there are some different types of clips most common seems to be the crimped version.
Lure comes in 2 sizes 100m and I think 70 m .I dont think there would be a big lot made the ones l have are treasures

Cheers Graeme

Thanks for that Graeme! You have some very nice models. This one is right on 120mm body length, 170mm overall. Do you know when it might have been made?

Ta,
Matt

Nice distinctive lures the Riverkings and one you should hold onto, unless you want to swap it for somethingWink. By coincidence I only drove past Don's house this morning but didn't stop. I have to catch up with him and show him this one which is claimed by Rob Gaden to be the first RiverKing made, something I would like to get Don's thoughts on. It's a nice one with the creased bib which Barry kindly passed onto me to add to my other Lawson lures.

Are river kings still being made? 5 years ago I was fishing with Don and he said his biggest market was around Canberra way - I gained from  that that they were still being made albeit not by him.

I do not believe he makes the timber lures anymore unless for a special request which is how I got his model range made in timber a few years back.

I bought some plastic Lawson lures while I was in Emmaville a few years back. I would like some timber versions.
