No mate, but I did have a couple of plastic ones that went around a couple of times on eBay a few momths back. Ended up selling them privately to someone who small remain nameless. Couldn't get a bid at $50 So let's not kid ourselves that these are a high end item.

Strange I don't remember giving anyone but JaySea lures permission to make the Freddo, Gremlin, Baker Kray or Wild Thing model lures. Some people seem not to know that I and I alone still retain the rights to those lures.

Ok Warren, I will start right at the beginning. It's a bit long winded but I hope it will not be boring ??

I recently did an upgrade on my computer to Windows 8.1 and have had nothing but problems since, I could not post or put photo's up, a big thank you to Tony (the boss)for sorting it out for me this afternoon.

I got Darren to post the pic for me without the info I would have used because I thought that LL members would like to see something  special and I thought very nice (I had always intended to follow up with the info).
Several years ago I was lucky enough to aquire one of your moulded Freddos for my collection Warren (yes I do collect Jaysea's and have always admired you as a lure maker), I had always thought it would be awesome to have a timber Freddo but knew that would never happen.

Then along came Eric, my neighbour and now good friend. About two plus years ago (long before I had even thought about getting back into carving or painting myself) after finding out that Eric had a talent for carving more than just lures, I asked him if he could carve a few Freddos for me, he got a bit carried away and finally brought over a box full of the little suckers, to say that I was over the moon would be an understatement (these are what sparked my interest in carving again), I put them together and got them ready for painting with sealer and under coat etc, at that time Aaron was a fledgling lure maker and painter and had offered to paint them for me, It did take a while to get em back LOL, but that's Aaron, at the time he had too many fingers in too many pies, we were all very happy with the result though, the only one I painted (earlier this year) is the small one in the middle between the two larger ones, It had been forgotten on the bench amongst all the lure making clutter.
As I know nothing about Lexan bib towed lures I asked Danny from Hervey Bay (Lollypop Lures) if he could help out, he had no trouble making enough bibs for me and we swim tested a couple in his pool before I finally got round to gluing the bibs in a few weeks later, this is where the four makers comes in, not so much a collaboration as Darren put it LOL but more a few makers helping me out with a project.

I had no idea this would cause trouble, these lures were made for me for my collection, Eric kept a few for himself also, they were not made to be sold for money or traded, they are not signed Freddo but have Erics name on them, I called them Freddos because that's what they are, It would have been silly to call them anything else, and, there will not be any more made.

I hope this is a satisfactory answer for you Warren because I cannot add anymore to this reply and can only apologise for any agro it might have caused you.

Regards Gristy

Thought that I'd add this photo(courtesy Steve Muchow) showing one of the original timber Freddos(top right), along with a few close relatives. These lures are all the work of the original designer and maker, Keith Baker.

Regards,
Col

Hi Carl, thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. I don't have any problems with guys doing a few lures for their collections as long as they don't sell them for profit (I must say the ones you did do look very sweet). Anyway moving on lol, you and I have met before many years ago in Cooktown at the Barra tag and release back in the early 90s . I'm not into collecting lures but I have been a fan of your lures long before the teacher got his hands on them lol.

Cheers Warren

Hmmmm, no need to shout Steven Confused, at the time as there had been no photo's posted of timber Freddos I just thought, and it seemed relevant ,(maybe), people might be interested in my little project, nothing more, nothing less.

Btw, very nice originals and thanks Col for posting the photo.
