She's had a hard life, but shape is a classic. Notice how the paint has cracked? I had a very early Rellik Doc Barra, never been near water, but paint cracked and flaked similar to this. May have been the early Jetulong timber used?
Seaweed.

Tony, I was talking to rocco, yesterday about the cracked paint syndrome.  I've got early lures of mine, that have never been near water and have the micro cracks in the paintwork. I've got some, that would have been painted at the same time, with the same colours, and they are in perfect condition.

My theory is that that it has something to do with the expansion and contraction that the lures endure. It gets down to -90C in Tenterfield and as hot as 350C.      I might be wrong, but it sounds like a good theory.

Different story with used lures, if water gets into the timber.

Cheers

I remember seeing that lure on eBay recently. Nice buy

I don't collect RMGs at all, but I did come across a batch of them a while ago that have since been traded to a mate for some lovely old Deceptions. Amongst them was also a Deep Dan. It looks like it may have a slightly shorter bib than yours, and it's condition is much worse.

Here's some photos for reference,

Cheers,

Danny.

Hi Rocco,

Here are some photos of an old Deep Dan for comparison purposes.
Interesting to note that it to has suffered from some paint loss issues(underside of bib).

Hope this helps,
Col

Is that a double 'n' on Dan?  Deep-Dann

Nice to see those old backing cards still surviving the test of time.

Yes Travers, the backing card is printed with a double "n" on Dan.
However, what I don't know is whether that was the intended spelling or a printing error.
Regards,
Col
