I picked up this timber reel this morning at the markets it's a 4inch job with a silky oak spool.my first thoughts were that it was a pastime but i dont think the pastimes used this base,it also has an ebonite handle which is also different (to what ive seen anyway).any info would be much appreciated

Hi,
Interesting little reel. Starback and pivot mechanism ( if ball bearing)has all the hallmarks of a Billy Lees reel. He did make metal backplate reels. Is the line guide screwed in to the reel seat? The handles and collets on the spool suggest Kross and or Jefferies. Would like to see the ratchet mechanism internally if possible as this would give some more clues. Dave
