One of the under-rated collecting lures is the Impala made by Williamson lures. This was apparently one of the reasons why Rapala bought out the company (and to get access to some great saltwater plastic and game lures) - addressed the issues of this lure being similar to the Rapala Magnum series.
The moulds etc for this lure were destroyed on purchase which means that they will eventually increase in value. There were also some interesting colours such as candy striping. They are still out there in a few dump bins and well worth picking up, especially the rarer 9 cm model.

Life is like a box of chocolates - so why do I keep losing fillings on the hard centres??

Wayne, they are exactly the same to look at as the Rapala Magnum series of minnows. Williamson started making them in the bod ol' days of apartheid when trade embargoes on the SA government meant Rapala could not be imported. Apparently they are every bit as capable as the Rapalas.

Wayne, I should also mention that the Impalas are resinous plastic and not timber like the Rapalas.

Yes Bob, the Rebel did have a similar setup, not sure if they worked with Rapala or used their own design.

A couple more Williamson lures to add to the story. The little popper is identical to the Striker Popper Plug.
