Normally I get my paints RTU from the local paint shop but I'd thought I'd give the water based Auto Air "Sparklecents" a go........ I tried thinning it with GP thinners, that didn't end well!
Eventually got it thinned OK just using tap water but it takes too long to dry and was a real pain in the arse to clean the airbrush with water. Cleaning with the thinners only turned pear-shaped again...

Anyone use Auto Air? What do you use to thin and clean up?

Thanks mate, just ordered some 4012 this morning. Apparently once the paint has been reduced with 4012 it only has a potlife of 72 hours......

Blinky, I use distilled water until it flows like milk and also a double halogen lights they give out enough heat to speed things up.  Also it depends on how much air pressure you are running and the size of needle in the airbrush you are using.
Try Pureau you get it from local Coles.

Cheers,
Dave

Blinky, I have just changed to Auto Air, it was a bit of a challenge at first. Get some 4030 as well as the thinner.

I use Auto Air and Wicked paints exclusively. To thin, just use the reducer that is meant for them as Sel has said! As far as a cheap clean out between colours, give your airbrush a flush through with metho. I put a little squirt of metho in the cup, give it a quick agitate with a small brush and blow her through. Ready for the next colour. Works a treat.

I think I am about to acquire some very different paints than I am used to. til now, I have just been using dedicated airbrush paints. but the guy I just bought my 2 new airbrushes from, also has a pile of paints also that he will sell me. he was an auto interior repair specialist. lambos, Ferraris, porsches, etc. it will be getting in to the whole thinning and different cleaning methods etc. I really don't NEED to get into anything more complicated, the methods I have been using are fine for me, and produce perfectly fine results that I am more than happy with. BUT, I am quite envious of some of the spectacular paintjobs/colours that some guys are using on their lures. larger variety of colours can only be a good thing.
