Any ideas on theses 2 reels the overhead I thought was a surfmaster and the timber one a ajax. I sent the photos to some one and they said that they were not and more than likely home made. He said the overhead had no name on it, no rachet and a different handle and the timber one had no name and it has a quick release knob on the front to release the spool which ajax reels dont have. They are both very well made and in my opinion not home made. The overhead has surfmaster internals (gears etc) and free spool lever. Any help very appreciated. Thanks Glenn |

Overhead is possibly early Surfmaster or home made reel.

Agree, it looks like a Surfmaster, usually engraved with two types of script. Early ones had running writing script from 1953, later in capital print lettering.
