I am going to PNG in July chasing both Black and Spot Tail Bass. What are your thoughts on barbless or crushed barbs. Being in a remote location I think it is worth the risk of losing a fish or two rather than being evacuated out in a chopper and ruining the trip of a lifetime. I have always fished crushed barbs since being hooked in the face many years ago and have lost hardly any fish since.

Definitely the way to go.
Make sure your mates do the same. No good getting barbed with one of their hooks Communication sources and help can be a very long way away. Batteries and a good torch will not go astray. Captain Cranky may have a few other suggestion being a regular visitor to PNG How long is the trip Regards John

If I'm smart enough to remember, I'll crush the barbs on my trebles when I first use a new lure.
