Today Wal Muffett had a good time with a giant trevally as per the photos - awesome. Wal used one of his Wedgetails on this fish.

Yesterday Wal caught 3 coral trout on his lures, at 48 cm, 55 cm and 58 cm.

8lb line?

Holy hell, that's an effort. Must have had some spare time on his hands.

Cheers,

Danny.

Bloody nice fish, all of them, has to be happy with that
25 kg + on 8 Lb thats 51 + Lb on 8 Lb
Its been years since I fished club and line class, Im not even sure if it is still determined the same way with a lot more tag & release today
Either way that capture would have to be right up there well done
Cheers Kimo

Mono Danny, Wal doesn't use any braid at all. He prefers the Scheinider line, a little bit thicker but very abrasion resistant.

Let's just say that Wal was happy to stop casting to bommies and troll for a while afterwards for a whileLOLLOLLOL

An hour before hand Wal was hit by a massive GT while popping about 5 metres from the boat. That thing had a head about 40 cm wide. That thing was huge all in about 3 metres of water over a reef.

It was part of a Shimano combo that he bought at BCF some time ago for $99. It consisted of a Catana rod with some little slim line overhead reel on it - the combo he uses for sooty grunter.
