Since their inception around 2011 the design of the "Jack Magic" style lures has undergone several development modifications. From my observations there has been a series of three basic body shapes with approximate time periods as follows:
Shape 1:- 2011-2012 Shape 2:- 2013 Shape 3:- 2014-present The lures were manufactured with two body sizes of 77mm and 88mm respectively. The 77mm models have always been fitted with a deep bib, while the earlier 88mm models(Shape 1 and Shape 2) had a shallow bib configuration. Below are some photos that I have gathered in the hope of illustrating these features. I hope that they prove useful, Col P.S. Should anyone have access to any other variations I'd appreciate seeing photos. Jack Magic 88mm Shallow and Deep Jack Magic 77mm Deep |

Another piece to the puzzle. These were advertised on the DRL Blog in August 2014 as part of an order going to Townsville. This would considerably extend the range of "Shape 2" from 2013 to well into 2014.

A wonderful addition to the "Jack Magic" story thanks Simon. I've not seen that version before and greatly appreciate you sharing it. If you have the time could you please let us know what the body length is?

Simon, thank you for the added detail.
Jim, for my own personal documentation I will be listing it as a Prototype, but others are free label it as they see fits. Regards, Col |

Recently I was delighted to be able to add a few more "Jack Magic" lures to my growing collection.
Of particular interest for me was the discovery of an earlier(Shape 1) 88mm model fitted with a deep bib configuration. This is the first example of that type which I have come across. As well, one of the 77mm models was fitted with a bent bib which was also a first for me. Regards, Col |
