The old cotton cordell shiner was the first lure I got one on, most successful during the 90's was a toss up between manns 10+ in fire red fluorescent(yank colour, back in the day) and bennett/ McGrath in red, these days Gulp 5 " jerkshad in nuke chicken, atomic fatgrub(chartreuse tail) and squidgy fish in rum red or gold speckle.
As for the big lizard side of things, a few good ones have come into my boat from time to time and I found this old photo on the net a while back, think it came from NSW somewhere, proper old shovel head. Will locate the photo and post it up. Cheers !!

Have caught a lot of lizards over the years including very big ones and very small ones but the 2 " shrimp in banana prawn ( Gulp ) is a great plastic , as for hard bodies the old rebel crawdad in the yabby colour or the red caught a heap .

Haven't chased flatties until recently, but the squidgy wrigglers and fish have worked for me. Doesn't hurt so much losing them, either.
An old mate got a flathead in the Ross River, Townsville, on a 6" nilsmaster invincible, that went about a metre, but that was in about 1982. Tony.
